How to make tiny paper hearts

I remember being such a fanatic of starfolding and have containers of them somewhere. I was like, hey, why not make cute little origami hearts too?

You first need a few strips of star paper, depending on how many you want to make (and do not forget trial and errors). If you do not have star paper, that is okay. You can use. say, line paper and cut the on the lines (you can draw or color it before so you have different colored ones) or put paper through a paper shredder. That width may be a little small for beginners or for your fingers, so making it a bit wider than the lines on a lined paper may be good.

Note- One strip of paper can make 3-4 hearts. You don’t have to use up the whole strip of paper.

So you have the strip of paper.

Fold the left side of the paper as shown, into the traingle.

Now fold that triangle over ..

And over ..

And over ..

And over again ..

Now after folding it about 9 times (and you end up with something that look like the above) cut where the red line indicates.

Now you have that. You see the a small opening where the red line is? Tuck the part you just cut into there (like the tucking in of the paper at the end of folding the star, if you know how to make the star).

Now you have a triangle. To make it “puff” out, use your fingernail and push down as indicated in the picture.
Optional- Now you can flatten the sides of the “puff” indicated by the purple dot with your thumb and index finger.

Cut at the red lines. You can cut it slightly curved to make it more heart shaped. Or in other words, you can cut and trim it to make it look “better”.

Voila! There you have a complete heart, or even a lot of them if you choose to make more. After a while, the folding should become obvious and it should come to you naturally. :)
